About Me
A Journey Rooted in Curiosity
My academic journey began in Chandigarh, India, at St. John’s High School, where I was first introduced to the importance of discipline, critical thinking, and a deep curiosity about the world. I went on to complete an MBA in Operations Management at Punjabi University, where I graduated at the top of my class and received the University Merit Scholarship. Seeking to further my understanding of technology and systems, I pursued graduate and doctoral studies at the London School of Economics (LSE) in the UK. At LSE, I earned an M.Sc. in Economics and a Ph.D. in Information Systems, specializing in information security. The intellectually stimulating environment at LSE shaped much of my thinking, influenced by figures like Anthony Giddens, Friedrich Nietzsche, and the socio-technical movement pioneered by the Tavistock Institute.

The Work That Drives Me
Over the years, my work has focused on addressing some of the most pressing issues at the intersection of technology and society:
- Cybersecurity and Privacy: How do we safeguard digital systems while respecting privacy and ethical boundaries?
- Risk Management: What strategies can organizations use to anticipate and mitigate technological risks?
- The Ethics of Technology: How can we ensure that innovations serve humanity and not just the bottom line?
In my role at UNT, I strive to combine rigorous research with practical applications. My teaching primarily focuses on postgraduate courses in cybersecurity, strategic planning, and project management, and I have the privilege of supervising doctoral students who are tackling some of today’s most complex technological challenges.
Global Experience and Contributions
My academic career has taken me across the globe, offering me the chance to collaborate with diverse institutions and organizations:
- I have held faculty positions at Cranfield School of Management (UK), City University of Hong Kong, and Virginia Commonwealth University (USA), among others.
- As a Research Professor at ISEG – School of Economics and Management in Portugal, I guide doctoral students in developing impactful research agendas.
- I’ve worked with Fortune 500 companies as the CEO of Aldwych Associates, helping them design and implement robust security policies.
These experiences have given me a truly global perspective on how technology impacts organizations and society, enabling me to contribute to meaningful conversations about innovation, ethics, and strategy.
Achievements and Recognition
I am honored to have my work recognized both within academia and beyond:
- I’ve authored over a dozen books and published more than 100 articles in leading journals, including Information Systems Research and Decision Sciences.
- My research has been featured in prominent media outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and NBC News.
- I’ve received awards like the IFIP Silver Core Award and the Claudio Ciborra Best Paper Award, and I’m ranked among the top scholars globally in productivity indices.
Philosophy and Vision
At the heart of everything I do is a belief that technology should empower, not complicate. Whether it’s mentoring a student, advising a startup, or consulting with a large organization, my goal is to create solutions that are not only innovative but also ethical and inclusive.
I am deeply influenced by philosophical thinkers like Nietzsche, Rousseau, and Hobbes, whose ideas inspire me to approach challenges with a mix of curiosity, pragmatism, and a commitment to social impact.
Looking to the Future
While I am proud of what I’ve accomplished, I believe the most exciting opportunities are yet to come. The intersection of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and organizational systems presents endless possibilities, and I’m eager to continue exploring these frontiers with others who share the same passion for innovation and growth.
If my work resonates with you, or if you’d like to collaborate or discuss new ideas, I’d love to hear from you.
